Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Merry Christmas

So, that’s it for 2012 folks! Thank you so much to the lovely Festive 5 bloggers: Elizabeth, Kathryn, Lisa-Marie, Siobhan and Victoria for reminding me how special this season is. Here’s what I’ll be up to!

Where will you be spending Christmas this year?

I’ll be working on Christmas Eve then dashing across to our local cinema to meet my OH, his brother and fiance to watch It’s A Wonderful Life. I may smuggle in a few mini bottles of booze to send us merrily on our way. We’ll then head to the square for Christmas Carols and a few more drinks! Christmas morning will be spent just me and the OH, opening presents, eating a tasty breakfast (with bucks fizz) then we’ll get dressed and head to my brother-in-law’s for Christmas lunch, games, films and afternoon naps!

What are your favourite Christmas memories?

When I was a child I woke up before everyone in the house on Christmas morning and had a very particular routine – turning on Christmas tree lights, pouring myself a glass of milk, popping the TV on and sorting the presents under the tree into little piles across the floor for my Mum, Dad, Sister and Brother. I’d enjoy seeing the world (the street I lived on) wake up bit by bit. I loved those mornings.

What are your must see Christmas films?

I love the usual It’s a Wonderful Life and The Muppet Christmas Carol but I also love films with elements of Christmas. Similar to Lisa-Marie,  Nora Ephron films are a must at Christmas for me. I’m always singing “Horses!Horses!Horses!” around Christmas time (you’ll understand if you’ve watched Sleepless in Seattle!).

What’s the best Christmas Gift you’ve ever received?

My Mum bought me a Jimi Hendrix limited edition CD once that meant a lot as she wouldn’t ordinarily buy me music – it was the best surprise and one of my favourite albums to date. My sister also gave me her red bike for Christmas once which meant so much.

What are you looking forward to most this Christmas?

I love that at Christmas everything stands still and you can enjoy the few days without worrying about money, time, or places you have to be. It’s just about what is important – the people you love  and counting your blessings. I’m looking forward to that and the box of chocolate liqueurs sitting under our tree!

If you haven’t read the other Festive 5 posts take a gander here!

Mathilde heart Manech will be back in the New Year after a wee break to recharge the batteries. Thank you so much to all my readers who take the time to support my blog  – I really appreciate every one of you. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

See you on the other side!
