Festive 5: The Owl and the Accordion

The Owl and the Accordion

On the blog this week I’ve lined up some fantastic bloggers and friends to take part in my Festive 5 series. They’ll be asked five questions all about the season – mainly because I’m nosey like that and Christmas makes me happy! Finally we have the lovely Victoria from The Owl and the Accordion.

1. Where will you spend Christmas this year?
On Christmas Eve the Husband and I will be at home, desperately wrapping any last presents, and he’ll be building the go-kart we’ve bought our four year old. I’m guessing there will be some mulled wine and biscuits involved! On Christmas Day we’ll be going to my parents for the day, and on Boxing Day we’ll see my In-Laws. We’ve sort of got into a happy little routine that stays the same every year!

2. What are your favourite Christmas memories?
Anything related to family really. It’s funny, I couldn’t tell you what presents I got as a child, but I can still remember my Dad taking me out in the snow one Christmas Day – we didn’t have a sledge so he pulled my around on a piece of old lino from the kitchen, while my Mum cooked lunch inside. As I’ve got older, the best memories are of our little boy on Christmas morning – it’s all about the children!

3. What are your must see films for the festive season?
The Snowman, The Holiday, Love Actually, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (my all time favourite festive film!), Father Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life. All the usuals!

4. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I’ve always been really lucky with presents, but I think the year I was most excited was when I was about ten or so, and I got my Game Boy. I’ve still got it somewhere – it’s bound to become a collectable some day! In recent years I’ve had some great presents – brogues, vintage bits and bobs, slippers from White Stuff. I couldn’t choose a favourite!

5. What are you looking forward to most about Christmas?
Our little boy is four now, so he really understands all about Santa and hanging stockings, and everything – I can’t wait to see his face when he rips open his go-kart on Christmas morning! Also, it’s our daughters first Christmas, so that makes it even more special – my Mum’s bought her a vintage velvet dress from Little Vintage, which she’s going to wear on the day. I can’t wait to see her in that! Apart from that, just spending time with my family and friends really – oh, and the Doctor Who Christmas special. And Downton Abbey of course!

My turn tomorrow – last post of 2012!
