A Cuppa and a Chat: January 2013

Lifestyle blog UK

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you’ve spent your holidays eating, drinking and being merry? Good, good. This is a short post before the blog gets back to business on Monday 7th January but I couldn’t resist popping by to say cooee!

I adore Christmas (had you noticed?) but I have to say, as soon as January knocks on the front door, I’m welcoming it in with tea and biscuits and a bear hug. January is a hopeful month and I guess I like to think I’m a hopeful lass. Yes the weather is drab as can be, which can be daunting when you’ve a dog to walk (we’re dog sitting for 3 weeks), but it’s also a month to plan, look forward and try new things. I like to do all three of those, indeed I do.

After watching many episodes of The Good Life (rock and roll), it is my resolution this year to keep things simple. The aim is to improve and develop the lifestyle I want to live – cook meals from scratch, keep the cake tin full, have a tidy home, go to the pub for early evening pints, read books, work enthusiastically, make practical wares for the home, listen to records, watch movies and write. Write my cosy socks off. Also to be a bit more like Felicity Kendal’s character Barbara, she’s darn lovely.

I’ll chat more about this ‘lifestyle’ thing soon but in the meantime, have a super week and weekend!

P.S If you’re new to this blog, and have one of your own, please leave me a comment – I’m on the hunt for some new blogs to add to my blog reader.

Oh my goodness. I have not made any resolutions or goals but I do think yours are amazing and I might steal them. I need ot keep our place tidier, I would also like to cook more, and of course, read more. I think these are realistic. 🙂 I actually cleaned the kitchen last night and made homemade dog cookies, so I think I might be off to a good start! 😉 Happy new year to you! xo

You are awesome! Homemade dog cookies?! Yeah, I think the key with resolutions is to make them achievable but also make them a part of your daily lifestyle that you want to live – more on this soon! Happy New Year! x

I recently stumbled upon your blog & love it – particularly your positive things! Some of which have become part of my day to day life (tiding before bed – it does make a huge difference when you wake up to a tidy home)!
I like your idea of a simple life, I know I’ll never achieve it as I have too many projects on the go, but I love been busy! I have not made resolutions this year, I have stared compiling a list of things I’ve wanted to do, but haven’t yet found the time/got around to trying, I’ve decided 2013 is the year to do them, first on my list is basket making, I can’t wait!

Happy blogging, I’ll looking forward to reading them! 🙂

Thank you for the lovely comment – I’m hoping my ‘keeping it simple’ will help me through the busy days! Basket weaving sounds fun! x

Like you, I love Christmas and all that comes with it but after weeks of overindulging and everything being sparkle coated, I like the clean, airy, stripped backness of January. My intentions too, are rather like yours – focus on home, enjoy the simple things, and simplify life where possible.

Happy New Year to you my lovely. 🙂
