Wear: Shirt Dresses

As someone who has never had an easy relationship with summer clothes, it’s a relief to have found a style of clothing  that’s as versatile and chic as a shirt dress. The shirt dress is a summer wardrobe staple taking you from day to night effortlessly, and great for all shapes, sizes and ages too. No more hot mess outfits!

The midi length style is my favourite as it pairs well with a variety of shoes including heels, trainers and sandals. Plus they’re so much choice on the high street and online right now, ranging from casual styles to sophisticated dresses worthy for occasionwear. Summer wedding outfit anyone?

Here’s five of my top picks!

I wanted one of my choices to be a dress that I have in my wardrobe already. Tried and tested and all that jazz. I bought this dress online knowing it would fit and suit me well, after purchasing another similar midi dress (in rust orange) from New Look in spring. I really like the casual fit of this dress but paired with sandals or a small heel, it’s something I’d happily wear after work too. You can get your button midi dress from New Look (available in other colours too).

I’m digging this whole outfit; the khaki linen dress, the boho-style jewellery mixed with the thick-soled trainers (I really want them). Is sporty – boho style a thing? If so, I’m in to it. Great styling Zara!

P.S Apparently I’m a person who says ‘digging’ now.

That summer wedding you have coming up? Go maxi with this statement shirt dress from Topshop. Monochrome is timeless, stripes ooze summer style and the maxi length designs adds elegance. Friends, I love this dress.

Summer clothing doesn’t usually shout ‘cosy’ but look at this dress! I mean, look how comfy it looks? You know if you purchase this dress it is never coming off, right?

The classic Bloomsbury Shirt Dress from Hush is weekend style summed up; easy, relaxed and playful. Sun’s out! Slip into those sliders and drink that glass of Pimm’s!

I know this colouring would not suit me and I’d need to wear it with trainers too (it’s a little too feminine for me) but isn’t it beautiful? A dress worthy of twirling in. It’s from M&S, so it is available in a varied range of sizes, plus you can choose the dress length too. Paired with a leather black crossbody bag and trainers, this would look very, very chic indeed. P.S polka dots!
