10 Simple Things #2

1| I love Hebden Bridge in all seasons but over the summer months it really is a special place to live. Evening drinks in beer gardens feel as if we’re on holiday, the annual Handmade Parade brings a festive atmosphere and the lush green landscape we’re surrounded by is breathtaking. I’m feeling very grateful that this is my home.

2| I’m trying to get some control back after what has been a pretty overwhelming few months anxiety wise so I saw my GP and I’ve made some changes to my lifestyle including taking a break from Roller Derby, being offline more (being purposeful when I am online), and not making too many commitments socially. One day at a time, and all that jazz.

3|We love most of our kitchen; the red brick feature wall, our granite worktops and large windows and ceiling. But the previous owners didn’t do a great job with the cupboard fittings or flooring so these home improvements are on my list to sort by the end of the year. Writing it on here makes it seem accountable!

4| I know I’ve mentioned before that I’m not really into summer clothing but I’m now a convert to denim cut offs, t-shirts and sandals. I’ve loved the relaxed style of this shirt dress from New Look too.

5| On the box. I haven’t watched many films since the World Cup has been on. I love the tournament and have been watching every night since the quarter finals, it’s actually been quite therapeutic for me (maybe not watching England!).

We did catch the film Good Times on Netflix though and I was blown away by the performances of Robert Pattinson and Benny Safdie. Oh and I started the new series of GLOW too, I’m a big Alison Brie fan.

6|Polly turned 3! I can safely say the past 3 years have been the best of my life and it’s because of our big ball of fluff; she’s an absolute joy to be around, a constant source of comfort and I’ll be forever thankful for her getting me outdoors!

7| Watching Adam Buxton’s BUG show at The Trades Club. After a silly few months this was an absolute treat. I haven’t laughed so much in months.

8| Another treat! The lovely folk at Beards & Daisies, an online florist selling hand-tied and letterbox bouquets, sent me some beautiful fresh flowers packaged with care. My hand tied bouquet of ‘Tabitha’ flowers featured peonies, stunning marshmallow coloured ‘Bounty’ roses, achillea, antirrhinum and fragrant phlox. I can’t believe how fresh these looked after delivery, lastingjust under 2 weeks too. I loved the natural/seasonal arrangement of this bouquet – pretty impressive for online delivered blooms! *Gifted

Because we all deserve a treat, Beards & Daisies would like to offer my readers a chance to win a bouquet of your choice! Simply head over to my Instagram to be in with a chance of winning. Good luck chums!

9| Raising around £450 for Alzheimer’s after completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge (26 miles and 3 peaks) in 10 hours 10 minutes. I’m feeling super proud of my body. Never again will I moan about my chunky thighs, they are awesome. If you’d like to sponsor us you can still via this Just Giving Page. Thank you!

10| Post-work walks with the pup for ice cream at The Honesty Box. Not only does this local treasure sell eggs and the occasional slice of Victoria Sponge but it sells Just Jenny Farmhouse ice cream too. I visited on Friday night before the OH came home, for a Raspberry Ripple treat!
