Good Vibes Only: July

Outfit details at bottom of post

It’s been an eventful few weeks. Lifestyle changes have been made, many World Cup matches (and Love Island episodes) have been watched and I got a personal best walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks, whilst raising money for Alzheimer’s. Oh, and not forgetting this glorious summer of ours. Isn’t it the best? I’ll do a proper catch up post on that soon but today I wanted to focus on things that I’m looking forward to in July, the beginning of my summer of slow.

Making the most of the summer evenings It’s so easy to come home from work and settle into an evening routine of tea, rest and chores but I’d like to celebrate this awesome summer of ours and make some memories, not just during the weekends. I love the warmth of the late summer evening sun so this month, I’d like to go for long evening walks with food, friends and family for company. My friends at Craghoppers kitted me out for my summer adventures (pictured – all listed at the bottoms of this post) but no one was expecting this hot summer of ours so I also bought myself a pair of their walking shorts too which I wore for the Three Peaks (I’ll link to my hiking outfit in an upcoming post). More walks please, if anything is going to help me sleep in this heat it’s the countryside air.

Go shopping locally Hebden Bridge has an abundance of independent shops to enjoy, and new ones I’ve not yet been in. I shop in Hebden Bridge for food, essentials and love the market too but I haven’t had the time or spends to go clothes or gift shopping for a long time. A Hebden potter is on the cards…

Eat more ice cream I can’t wait to try Florence’s gelato later in the year but that’s months away chums. So I’m going to make a summer pledge to have at least a couple of ice creams a week, and sample all the flavours. You can’t rush ice cream, the perfect antidote to a busy day.

Focus on one social media channel In all honesty, I’ve not been paying much attention to anything other than Instagram for a while. But I have been beating myself up for not posting regularly on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest for the blog, and worrying about not doing something takes up brain space too. The only pressure in doing it all is from myself, no one else. So I’m going to stop with the worry. Simple as that. My social media presence personally and for the blog will be on Instagram and Stories. See you over on the gram!

Bribe a friend… to take me to the garden centre so we can prettify our patio a little (I don’t drive). We’ve been enjoying sitting outside more lately but now I’m out there more I’m noticing all the things that need some attention. I’ve been enjoying my morning routine of watering the plants that are suffering in this heat. Rock and roll.

Paddle more Water therapy, is that a thing? I reckon so because Polly is happy as larry when swimming in the river and I’m as content as can be when I take my Salt-Water sandals for a morning paddle.

Family meet ups I’m looking forward to seeing more of my family, from both sides, this month. On my side, with all the difficulties and upset that’s going on with my parents, I just try to focus on appreciating them whilst I can. On Ste’s side it’s nice to relax a tad, and laugh and enjoy each other’s company. I’m very lucky to have both.

What are you looking forward to in July?
