At Home: Bedroom Makeover
This is our attic bedroom and thanks to George at Asda it’s had a bit of a makeover lately. I say attic bedroom as it explains the crazy sloping ceilings in the photographs! When we viewed the house, we couldn’t believe the size of this room in particular. After living in a very small house for 4 years it just didn’t seem possible that we could live here, considering Hebden Bridge houses are either costly or very small. I guess it still doesn’t feel quite real!
It does have it’s downsides mind you. The other night, during a mega storm, we discovered a leak in the roof landing every 8 seconds (yup I counted) on my feet in bed! Being on the top floor during gale force winds had me half expecting I’d wake up in The Land of Oz! We’re going to get a roofer in soon to take a look and hopefully it won’t cost the earth. But no more storms in the meantime, OK weather?
So this was the bedroom when we moved in 6 months ago. During that time we repainted the green a lovely shade of indigo blue, but that’s all as far as decorating goes. We’re keen to get the bedside wall lights refitted too, to complete the new look, but there’s no rush especially when there’s a leaky roof to fix! Here’s the rest of the bedroom makeover…
White Paint and Rug c/o Asda
Tub Chair and Sunshine Cushion c/o Asda
Throw c/o Asda
Zebra Towel c/o Asda
Stripe Towels c/o Asda
Yellow Water Bottle and Soda Glass c/o Asda
We still have the ceiling, beams and skirting boards to refresh with white paint and will add some art here and there but overall I’m pleased with the fresh and cosy look. We’ve added house plants and lighting near our bulky grey TV to soften it slightly, and the fluffy rug to add a little texture to the floor.
We also painted both our bedside tables as they were looking mis-matched (not in a good way). The ladder shelf is perfect for our projector and is home to the usual; half empty cups, books and flowers living in little jars.
I wanted to lighten up the window so chose the textured weave curtains in a grey shade which I think works well, and to complement the blue accents throughout the room we added the blue vase to the windowsill.
Do you like? P.S Is it cheating if we get someone in to paint the ceiling, it’s a beast!

Painting ceilings is the worst – get someone in! We’re living with old yellow stains on our dining room ceiling from a (fixed) leak because we can’t face painting over them!
Hope the roof repairs are minor.

Oh I LOVE it! Such unusual colour choices, but the overall effect is absolutely gorgeous.
I love our attic bedroom, but it does get warm in Summer and the storms – I totally know what you mean about waking up in Oz! Haha.
Those zebra towels are adorable!
