Last week’s news

August Bank Holiday weekend is here, eek, slightly worrying. This year is just flying by. Anyhoo, it looks like we’re off for a country drive tomorrow with friends, which will be ace of spades. I shall buy an ice cream, you must have ice cream on Bank holidays, it’s the law.

In other news, I popped down to town this morning and bought an oven dish from a charity shop so at last I can make an apple crumble with the apples from my sister’s apple tree. Yum. Don’t tell Boo there’s no custard in though, im hoping he will be happy with the ice of the cream : )

I also bought a ‘granny cardigan’ (Boo’s words) from a charity shop for a mere £2, it’s a lovely pastel mint green colour, from River Island. I like it anyway. Will look lovely with a dress and my black army boots. Just a bit scary that I’m buying wooly, autumnal clothes. Oh well I did always prefer them to summer clothing.

Next week is going to be a busy one. Apart from work, I’ll be helping with painting my sisters house, having some girly time with Mum and Sister (which will probably involve a walk and the pub), a day out in Manchester with my best mate and an evening in Ilkley. Busy! It’s weird, some days or weeks I have nothing planned, then everything happens at once. Tis good though! Although I’m a bit annoyed with myself that I haven’t picked up the sewing machine once this week and the forecast for next week doesn’t look great either. Bad Lisa.

Anyhoo, here’s a few things that put a smile on my face last week –

At last we have decided what to do with our lounge. We have this gaping blank wall you see, and I don’t think a picture or mirror will do. So we thought we’d go for the feature wall idea using wallpaper. Luckily we have nice landlords and are allowed to decorate and we think we have found the perfect wall paper. It’s Orla Kiely’s Flower Blossom. Just lovely, nice and bold, not too feminine and the colours are perfect. We have a brown carpet and off white walls, so I thought it would be great to bring out the blue and off white in the wallpaper and match with the soft furnishings…cushions, rug etc. I’m thinking I’ll use any left over wall paper to make a drum lampshade and also to put behind the bookcase. Lots of decoupage projects to research! Check out Folly and Boom for other gorgeous Orla Kiely patterned loveliness…

Just in case…

My friend Jo bought me this. You see, there are chocoholics, then there’s me. Lisa Murdoch. I have a problem or ‘thing’ you see. I must have chocolate on me at all times. I panic a bit if I don’t. If I go to a friend’s house or my folks, I take some in case they don’t have any. I’ve been known to go to the shop at 1am to find a 24 hr shop to get a bar of the good stuff. This may be a condition, or I could just be a greedy mare, who knows? Man I love that stuff. Cheers Jo!

Meet my two new chrysanthemums, Candy & Jean. They make me happy.
