Home and Style Finds: Birthday

It’s my birthday next week and it’s crept up on me silly fast. Normally I’d be thinking of it months in advance (yup, I’m a weirdo who loves birthdays) but this year I’ve mainly been focusing on other happy things like Polly, Roller Derby and our holiday to Australia coming up next month. SUNSHINE!

I do think it’s important to celebrate living another year on this ‘ere planet of ours and always like to make a few plans, even if it is just a favourite homecooked meal, opening presents and eating cake. Here’s what I’ve spotted lately that I’d happily add to my birthday wish list…PicMonkey Collage

1| I’ve always been particularly talented in losing earrings and have a box full of odd pairs. These Diamond Drop Back Earrings (£19) from & Other Stories are a chic pair that would easily translate from day to night. I’ll try to look after them.

2| White wouldn’t usually be my first choice when choosing a jacket but this  Jacket (£19.99) from H&M, has a sporty chic feel that I’m really loving right now. Perfect for our holiday too.

3| Because a birthday isn’t the same without a box of chocolates. Hello Maqui Berry Chocolate Truffles (£13.95) from Howkapow. You sound delicious!

4| I tried this foundation in a magazine sample and LOVED it. It made my skin look awesome, and who doesn’t want that. Plus it has SPF 25…ticking all the boxes, my friends. I only ever buy makeup when I need to top up the basics, but after trying this I can justify spending a little more for something that I know will go a long way. Have you tried Chanel Les Beiges Foundation (£36) yet? Available from Boots.

5| Oh I do like a pair of classic trousers. I’ve lost a little weight (yay!) since walking Polly and learning to skate, so my favourite pair of trews are looking a tad saggy around the derrière. These Marsie Textured Jacquard Trousers (£60) from Great Plains are gorgeous, for work and play. Nice big pockets too.

6| Statement necklaces will always be my friend. When I’m partial to wearing black (which is all the time at the mo) it’s nice to add some personality with a little colour. Introducing the Wagga Wagga Necklace (£35) from Howkapow by Australian designer, Monica Stassi. Oh my.

7| If there’s one thing I’d really like for my birthday, it’s a pair of New Balance trainers. I’ve had my black and white ones for a few years now and I wear them constantly. I love it when you find a brand that you can trust and just look great with everything. I really like the soft muted copper/peach/grey colours in these Beige Suede trainers (£65) from ASOS. Perfect for summer.

8|Truth be told I don’t need another bag. But this Suede Shoulder Bag (£29.99) from H&M is just lovely. Somebody please buy it, stroke it, and fill it with wonders.
