Made! Fairytale Of New York Christmas Wreath

I, along with 29 other bloggers, was asked to take part in the Country Baskets Festive Face Off blogger challenge a few weeks ago. Seen as though I’m a softie for crafty fun and Christmas, I of course said yes!

We were sent a hamper filled to the brim with seasonal crafting goodness, and the challenge was to make a Christmas decoration of our choice using as little or all of the basket’s contents.

Making a Christmas wreath became a tradition for us last year and I love that they can be made from pretty much anything. It just so happens that the hamper Country Baskets sent us was full of wire, burlap, decorations and ribbons to make the perfect wreath. We were allowed to use our own supplies too so keeping that in mind here’s my entry!

To make you will need:
Burlap, wire, foliage, washi tape, wooden star decorations and A-Z stamping kit.

  • Simply make a circle of wire to your specified size.
  • Wrap burlap around the wire to fatten the wreath and pin the fabric in place. It doesn’t have to be neat, just secure.
  • Begin twisting your foliage (real or fake) around the frame of your wreath. I used wire to secure the holly sprigs in place, then covered them in washi tape for a pop of pattern and to cover up any messy wires.
  • Then hand stamp the name of your favourite Christmas song onto the plain wooden stars and secure them in place using pins.
  • Finally, tidy up your wreath tucking in any wandering twigs and leaves. Hang it on your door or wall and gaze upon your handiwork with a cup of tea and mince pie!

Tip! You can personalise your wreath with any message you like. As we are a musical house (and because it is my favourite festive song), Fairytale of New York was apt.
