Salted Caramel Cookies by Archie and the Rug

Hello my name is Nicolette and I normally blog over at Archie and the Rug but today to celebrate my 3 year blogging birthday I have teamed up with a bunch of talented ladies to swap articles and meet one another’s readers. When I first moved to Paris I did not have my weighing scales with me so I had to develop recipes that used cup measurements if I was going to get any baking done. This particular recipe is…

    Elderflower Popsicles and a Giveaway!

Over the Bank Holiday weekend we had the chance to enjoy the sunshine and all its benefits – namely eating outside and chomping on popsicles (I much prefer the American description to our British ‘ice lollies’). I came across a Blackcurrant and Cox Apple Lolly recipe after receiving a couple of Belvoir Cordials to try out. Instead, as I’m a bit obsessed with the stuff, I thought I’d make some Elderflower Popsicles. They are exactly as I imagined – refreshing, easy to make and relatively cheap…

5 Positive Things To Do This Week #2

I thought I’d try to make 5 Positive Things To Do This Week a Monday regular. Beginning the week with an uplifting post can only encourage positivity for the week ahead. I’m up for that! So get yourself a cuppa and read on… Go offline for at least one day a week. Although Twitter does tempt me to dip in occasionally, I try to have a break from the computer during the weekend. It almost feels like a luxury when…

Chocolate and Hazelnut Biscotti & The Good Housekeeping Step-by-Step Cook Book

I hope this book stays by your side for years to come and that it gives you many happy and confident hours in the kitchen – Meike Beck, Cookery Editor. I’ve been looking for a cook book to use on a frequent basis. A book that gets grubby with floured-fingers and splashes of Bolognese sauce. Is there a finer sight than a well used cook book? I think not. The Good Housekeeping Step-by-Step Cook Book is more than a recipe…

    Perspective

Hello! I hope you are all fine and dandy on this grey and rainy day? I’m feeling pretty darn rubbish after numerous sleepless nights battling with a cough to end all coughs (shakes fist at the cough Gods). But I shall not let it get me down…cough, splutter, cough. When I see photographs like the one above, everything fits into place doesn’t it? I’ll do a catch up post later in the week but first here are some lovely…

A cuppa and a good read.

With the launch of Wish magazine scouring the blogosphere (exciting!) I thought I’d take a look at other magazines on the market that might tempt the alternative/creative woman. There’s nothing better than a pile of magazines and a pot of freshly brewed tea, is there? In fact, that and a little sunshine is a perfect afternoon in my book. Oh and some cake…and maybe the radio playing in the background. Bliss. I’ve already found my bliss in Oh Comely;  it…

Book Review: Sweetie!: 50 Delectable Treats

Sweetie!: 50 Delectable Treats is an adorable recipe book filled with 50 mouth-watering treats to tempt you into a sugar-enduced coma. Amen. The recipes are taken from The Hardie Grant Test Kitchen and are all illustrated (not a photograph in sight) by Daniella Germain. I found the recipes easy to follow including plenty of detail (imperial, metric and American cup conversions) with clear content that makes up for the fact you don’t really see what you are making – my…
