10 Favourite Photographs

My friend, colleague and writer of the super lifestyle blog, Harrie Harb, wrote a blog post recently on our favourite photographs on her camera roll and it’s prompted me to write one too. Thanks for the idea Harriet!

What struck me, even though some of my chosen photographs were posted on Instagram, they weren’t exactly Instagram/Pinterest worthy; just important photographs that captured moments that have stuck with me to this very day. That’s a lesson learnt, I need to stop thinking of how my Instagram feed should look!

Instead of them being stuck on my camera roll, Cheerz offered to print out them out for me in a Cheerz box, poster and photo strips. A really great gift idea, that’s affordable too. Here’s my top ten!

This photograph was sent to me by a friend and captures the night the OH and I got together. It was NYE 8 years ago and was taken before heading out to a fancy dress night at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. The OH is dressed as a ninja (ha!) and I’m donning an 80s outfit. I’m so glad we have this photograph!

Oh Polly. This photo is important as it is taken where we start most of our walks, overlooking the town. Walking with Polly has been the best medicine and getting a dog has changed my life. She’s the best.

I never imagined the day would come that we would own our very own home. Renting was never an issue as I always felt like I was paying for a roof over my head rather than wasting money. But I’ll never forget the feeling of walking into this house for the first time knowing that it was ours. I love it so much and am so grateful for every inch of it.

A happy valley indeed. I took this photograph on a walk with the OH last year, before we got Polly. It was where we decided we definitely wanted to get a dog, so he/she could enjoy the countryside we live in. Calderdale is a pretty special place. P.S Did you watch the final episode of Happy Valley?! OH MY.

The kiddos! I haven’t seen these faces in ages. They were both blowing raspberries as I was taking the photograph and I couldn’t stop laughing. Which made them laugh and so on…

Taking a NYC cab to Central Park for my sister’s wedding! I’m so pleased my parents made it to the wedding. It was the best few days and I’ll never ever forget it.

glastonbury festival

I’ve been to a lot of gigs in my lifetime but some really do stand out. This was Patti Smith at Glastonbury last year, with the Dalai Lama cutting his birthday cake in the background. Surreal and totally brilliant.

The day I got my Roller Derby kit was the day I realised the sport was definitely for me even though I’m only a newbie. I’m still learning my minimum skills (1/3 to go) as I’ve had a few issues with my left leg, but I’m not giving up. I love it so much and I’m pleased I plucked up the courage to try the sport rather than just talking about it (took me a few years, mind you!).

These girls. I wasn’t there when this photograph was taken due to illness but it’s the perfect pic of my uni friends. It makes me smile knowing these women are in my life.

indie cinemas in yorkshire

I think I took this photo within a month or so of working at the cinema. Working in the film industry for an independent cinema is a dream come true. I love my job and I still get goosebumps when I walk into the auditorium. Post-floods, we’re nearly back on track – the new stalls seating is being fitted as we speak!
