Muse Music and Love Cafe, Hebden Bridge
I live in Hebden Bridge where independent businesses reign over the small handful of high street shops we have here. These independent shops, restaurants, galleries, cafes and cinema stand alone and make the town the unique and vibrant place it is today, so you can imagine how difficult it was for me to choose just one of my favourites for a recent campaign with Barclaycard’s Freedom Awards.
I was given £50 credit to spend and 3 records, including a surprise gift for the OH!
I don’t want to dwell upon the lack of music shops out there anymore, instead to celebrate the ones still standing and this one most definitely is. Muse Music and Love Cafe, is a business that not only is my favourite shop (and the OH’s) but resembles an experience that I’ve known all my life and never want to quit; spending quality time rifling through records and CDs to find something old or new to listen to. Is there anything better?
The shop is owned by Sid and Valeen Jones, offering its customers a variety of music to discover and reminisce over whilst serving tea, coffee and cake. It’s one of the most friendliest and relaxing shops I know; where every customer that pops in, either to browse some of Sid’s latest musical offerings, or for a mug of Valeen’s rich hot chocolate, will leave with a glowing smile on their face. They make time for their customers but will also leave you to it, and are knowledgable about their passion… music and good quality beverages!
Muse Music is open every day until Christmas and is well worth a visit and your time. P.S If you stumble upon any Kate Bush or Flaming Lips vinyl, ask Sid to pop them to one side for me will you? Ta muchly.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. This is essentially my dream shop and a wee bit cooler than the record store in a pet shop my brother stumbled upon last year. I’d be scared I’d never leave though…

I’ve seen Hebden Bridge featured in SO many magazines this year! It looks like such a fantastic place to live.
