At Home: Bedroom Accessories

Autumn is the ideal time to focus on making your home ship-shape for the coming months spent nesting, creating and planning. After a week/month of being a lazy so-and-so, and poring over inspiring images on Pinterest, I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and decluttering the house once again, starting with the bedroom.

In the past, and because we rent, I have always focused on the duvet cover to give an immediate change to the bedroom. Instead I thought I’d concentrate on the small things that style a room and give it its personality. Besides, I’m enjoying simple white bedding at the moment!

If money were no object, my ideal bedroom sanctuary would have the following feel; whitewashed walls, black accents and warm tones brought together through cushions and throws.

To give the room a grown up feel, I would paint our white iron bed frame black (to add an antique finish), which would look awesome paired with a vintage-style bedside chest on either side (other bedside tables available here). Finished with mustard yellow and pink textiles, plants (instant mood changers), inspiring reading material and black and white photographs; we’d have ourselves a welcoming and chic bedroom to spend the coming months in (no doubt recovering from colds). Le sigh.

Whilst I hunt the house for paint and scour the local charity and junk shops for mustard yellow accessories, will you be giving your home a makeover for Autumn/Winter?
