Lately: Lattes, Feasts and Looking Forward

The holiday is over, the sun isn’t so shiny anymore and suddenly it feels like we’ve never been away. That’s the way it goes, right? But instead of falling into the regular routine and talking constantly about the weather I’m hoping to bring a bit of Australia back into my day-to-day life. That and watch episodes of Girls, Gossip Girl and Portlandia to cheer me up.

So, in an effort to concentrate on all the exciting stuff in my life (you’ll see how I get excited by ridiculously simple things) I’m writing another looking forward list. Just because.

  • Easter feasts. This weekend is set to be another cold one, so roast dinners, delicious desserts and batch baking is the master plan. Perhaps a long snowy walk to the country pub to burn it all off (and put it back on again)?
  • Planning a trip to the garden centre (after pay day) to fill our space with scented delights outside and herby treats for the kitchen. Prepare for more gardening ramblings.
  • Finding a place for everything, one room at a time, in our wee home. Where does everything come from? WHERE? I’m very much looking forward to the Spring clean being OVER and everything looking pretty (waves wand).
  • New family members – I’ve got two nieces arriving soon. That will be 6 nieces and nephews altogether (including the OH’s!). Oh my.
  • Learning about coffee. We received a Gaggia Classic coffee machine for a joint birthday present. It feels like a little bit of luxury each day and now I spend my free time reading coffee websites for inspiration. Another thing to geek over – hurrah!
  • Planning mini adventures with my partner in crime. We want to make the most of our weekends this year so camping in The Dales, Whitby, The Lake District, Northumberland are very much on the cards. We’ll be renting a car/camper van first until our savings perk up for our very own, but knowing we have weekend getaways planned makes me very happy.
  • Yoga and running. My MIL teaches yoga so we were lucky enough to go to classes in Australia. Who’d have thought it? Our yoga mats, blocks and straps have been ordered and I’m a convert! I also started running again last week but it almost killed me. Ah well, I’m only human. I’m determined to act more responsibly with regards to my health – I love life and wanna be here for a long time. Indeed I do.
  • Blogging. Time away has made me even more excited about this blog and writing freelance. I’ve had a few opportunities pop up whilst away, which I was thrilled about but now I’m looking forward to spending some time on writing articles to prospective folk who might like my words/ideas etc. Time to step up my game.

What are you looking forward to?
