The Treat Yo’ Self Ten

I’ve mentioned before on the blog that the only time I feel OK about treating myself is on my birthday and at Christmas (spending well-received gifted pennies). The rest of the time, the house, gifts for others and holidays take priority.

Last week however I got myself a wee pay rise. To mark the occasion of doing a good job, and to stick a pin on what was a good week I celebrated humbly with a new plant and a reduced Easter egg (or two). It felt good to give myself a personal pat on the back and I realised it’s OK to spend your money if you have it, and with a little purpose thrown in, like a promotion, pay rise or simple surviving a particularly crappy week, it makes it all the more worth it.

Looking for ideas to treat yourself? Step this way…

You can’t beat a new pair of shades. They refresh tired outfits in a matter of seconds, cover up pesky dark circles and add style come rain or shine. These oversized colourful Cat Eye Sunglasses from & Other Stories would tempt Holly Golightly herself.

Am I right in thinking that 2018 has become the year we openly talk about self-care? It really feels like it’s on everyone’s radar this year, after what felt like an anxious and frazzled 2017. Any product that forces me to stop and take time is worth every penny in my eyes so I love the Scent to De-Stress Range from Neom Organics. These bath and shower drops include lavender, jasmine & Brazilian rosewood plus 21 other essential oils – perfect for slowing down after a long day.

I spotted the Just Trade ethical jewellery brand the other week and was really impressed by the quality and simplicity of their designs. I love these Sophie Hoop Earrings from Rad Studio made from subtly textured ribbons of golden coloured brass. And only £15 too.

I gave up on self tanning products a long time ago. I’m not really into faff, the orange streaks nor the smell so I figured that people would just have to get used to my pasty pins. But I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews of the new self tanning brand Isle of Paradise, and I think we all deserve a little colour after that drab winter of ours. Have you tried any of their products?

Life’s too short for mediocre coffee. So why not celebrate a great week by perking up your next one. These Caravan Coffee Market Blend Beans from Trouva would go down a treat at home.

You’ve heard the hype, I’ve heard the hype. Glossier specialises in uncomplicated skin care and makeup for the everyday and that’s music to my ears. When I’ve finished using what’s already in my make-up bag, the first item on my to-try list is the Cloud Paint, a gel cream for the cheeks and lips.

We’re going to treat our bedroom to a new vinyl record player soon. We have one downstairs in the lounge already but the bedside table is screaming out for some weekend tunes, and as much as I love my bluetooth speaker, only vinyl will do. If you’re looking for an affordable record player, this cream and rose gold from Urban Outfitters is gorgeous. What better way to celebrate National Record Store Day too?

In this digital world we’re living in picking up a favourite perfectly bound magazine will always feel like a luxurious necessity – that smell! Thankfully there are still quite a few independent mags to choose from, Ernest Journal being one of them (via The Future Kept).

I write. I plan. I list. This lass needs no excuse to buy a notebook or any stationery for that matter. But it is World Stationery Day on April 25th so… If you’re looking to get a tad more organised check out these simple and stylish planners from Old English Company. I love the charcoal grey and copper one or the on-trend blush pink and gold (pictured above) too. P.S If you’re feeling lucky they currently have a competition on their site to win a set of planners to celebrate the newest additions to their product range.

Candles aren’t only for the winter evenings when you’re getting your hygge-on. They are an almost daily ritual in this house (mainly tealights for us though, otherwise we’d be broke). This Hobo Scented Candle, fragrance with lemongrass and coconut from Radiance would make a perfect once in a while gift for the house though.
