Good Vibes Only: March

Full outfit details at bottom of the post

Three months in. We’re THREE months into 2018. Don’t you think that’s crazy? I mean, I’m looking forward to spring as much as the next person but I need this year to hit the breaks already.

I’ve not had a proper blog catch up since January so I thought I’d check in, and grace you with an outfit post and some of the positive stuff that’s been happening of late.

Beast of the East | Well, wasn’t that a hoot? After stocking up on supplies and phoning the folks to check they were cool, we loved the snow. We had already booked time off for my birthday so it was the perfect opportunity to simply rest, and enjoy down-time. We cancelled going out for staying in (apart from walking the pooch) and I loved every minute.

I’ve heard we’re going to get a second helping from the beast himself later this week but I’ve been too busy appreciating the inbetween dry days (minus the odd rainy episode) to worry about that. We shall see.

New blog design | This space needed a refresh, a spring clean shall we say. After hearing good things from fellow bloggers I headed to pipdig, a company that create and install Blogger & WordPress templates. I’ve still got some tinkering to do but I’m loving it’s new look and it’s much more mobile friendly too. I hope you like it too. Happy days!

Delicious new boots | Oh Lotus, you really know how to treat a girl. I was gifted these pewter toned Swallow Ankle Boots last month and well, they kinda make me feel kick-ass. I mean look at them! You know when you put on your favourite shade of lipstick and feel like you’ve got your sh*t together? Well that’s what these boots make me feel like. And because they’re from Lotus they’re guaranteed to be comfortable too (their heels are great too). Life’s too short for painful footwear when there are boots like these to prance around in.

I paired them with Lotus Hennie Tote Bag (which I use as a crossbody), black skinny jeans, a black polo neck, and to soften the look a long camel/brown cardigan. Would you believe no coat was needed this day?! I’ll be wearing them all year round for trips to the Co-op kick ass adventures. Also available in black and navy.

Challenges| I took myself out of my comfort zone this week and signed up to Me and Orla’s #TalktoCameraChallenge for Instagram Stories. I’ve never done vlogging purely because I enjoy the process of writing on here but if there is one skill I want to get better at this year it is learning to be more confident when talking, on camera and in real life. I figured a 15 second Story on Instagram wouldn’t be too bad. See my first video (a lesson in how not to talk to camera) via my Stories highlights (look for the TTC Challenge). Boy did I mess up! Only 51 more weeks of laughing at Lisa to go!

Progress with home updates | I mentioned last month that we’d be adding new bookcases to our attic bedroom and finally empty our cardboard boxes of all our books (three years later). It’s finally done! I’ll share on the blog next week alongside some other homeware updates I’ve made in time for spring (hello yellow). P.S organising our books gave me way more pleasure than it should, it’s so nice they finally have a home. Plus there’s room for some new reads too (hurrah for birthday books!).

Other highlights include planning a sister get together, long walks, seeing my niece and nephew, pub lunches with family, reading Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng (not at all what I expected for a crime thriller but brilliant), starting The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (I’m so excited to begin this fantasy series), a spot of therapeutic clothes shopping (sometimes it really does help) and making plans for my week off over Easter. Lovely stuff!

So, how you doing?
