20 Ideas for Spring

1| Spring clean your outdoor space. Whether that be the garden, patio or your outdoor windowsill. Tidying it up and adding some colour (with plants, furniture or accessories) will make it more inviting for you to spend time in and enjoy.

2| Wake up your wardrobe with fresh and bold colours and prints. Try adding budget-friendly accessories instead of buying new outfits; including scarfs, colourful bags or simply changing the colour of your laces.

3| Open those windows and doors in the morning (don’t pack away your winter woollies just yet, this is England after all). Fresh air is a tonic that your home needs too.

4| Start making plans (or none at all!) for the bank holiday weekends coming up.

5| Similar to your wardrobe, refresh your home with new additions for spring. Look out for my spring home update ideas on the blog soon.

6| Dig out old vinyl records, play summery tunes and have a floor pillow picnic with a loved one.

7| Have your January exercise plans fallen by the wayside? Fear not. Spring time is a much better time for you to kick-start your workout routine, and stick with it too. I wasn’t in the right head space at the beginning of the year to run again (considering I walk Polly daily and play Roller Derby too) but I’m finally feeling ready to start again. I’m thinking of starting yoga too, after getting some YouTube recommendations from my sister (I have achy hips!).

8| Try a new hairstyle – it will grow back.

9| Clean out your desk and add seasonal blooms each week.

10| Make spring the time you really get to know the town, area or county you live in. Walk its streets, hills, and river/canal bank sides.

11| Watch summery programmes. Give me a TV drama set in the English countryside with a glass of cold Sauvignon Blanc, and I’m in bliss. The Detectorists is one of my favourite TV shows at the moment; brilliantly written and acted, and it’s great for giving you the summer swoons too.

12| Visit a botanical garden

13| Support your local farmers market. Even if it’s simply for a loaf of bread or a dozen eggs.

14| Take a picnic blanket out with you on all your walking adventures. No need for picnics (but why not, eh?). Simply lay and cloud watch.

15| Give some seasonal blooms to someone who needs some TLC.

16| Update a wall in your home and make a gallery wall including photographs and art.

17| Add lavender oil to your baths to restore and relax after all your outdoor adventures.

18| Check-in on any older folk in your life who might need some help getting outdoors this spring.

19| Mix up the food you eat for your daily breakfast and lunch. It’s so easy to fall into a rut and eat the same thing day in, day out. But I think we focus more on the evening meal when wanting to try something new. Look at your local cafe menus for breakfast and lunch for inspiration.

20| Bake cake. Baking is an all-year-round activity in our house but I LOVE Easter bakes especially. Lemon drizzle cake is in the cake tin this week.

How about you? What are your spring plans this year?
