5 Reasons to Stay at: Meadow Falls Campsite, Ingleton

Our first campervan trip in Bailey, our Mazda Bongo, didn’t disappoint. However, three days prior to the trip, the van overheated, had a hissy fit and refused to crawl 500 yards back to the house (we were so close to home!).

We cancelled the trip, after we waved Bailey off with the AA recovery man, and found solace in that we hadn’t broken down hundreds of miles from home.

Then a tiny miracle happened, courtesy of our awesome mechanics at Bongo Spares, she was fixed! So we rang up Meadow Falls hoping our pitch was still available and set off the following day to the Dales.

From the Meadow Falls website:

We are a small and friendly, family run camping, glamping and caravanning site, situated in the beautiful village of Ingleton, North Yorkshire – ‘The land of Caves and Waterfalls.’

Whether you are looking for a relaxing break enjoying the dark skies, watching shooting stars and snuggling by the camp fire or an adventurous climb up the great Yorkshire 3 peaks, exploring the Ingleton waterfall trail and dipping in the village outdoor pool, look no further, this is where memories are made.

The site features hardstanding and grass pitches as well as pods if you fancy a bit more luxury. We stayed on both a hard standing and grass pitch. It’s an easy 15 minute walk into the centre of Ingleton where you’ll find pubs, gift shops, cafes, fish and chips, a garden nursery, amazing Seasons Bakery and lots more. And yes, an outdoor swimming pool!

Polite, helpful and accommodating owners

I don’t know about you, but nowadays I try hard to spend my money wisely. I shop in and use businesses locally that I trust and where I know the owners are generally good eggs!

Meadowfalls went over and above to accommodate us after us cancelling, then rebooking, then securing us an extra nights stay at the last minute because we loved it so much. And they didn’t charge us for it as we’d already missed a night because of the van. Really nice people that you can tell take pride in their site and their visitors welfare.

Dog friendly

This is really important to us whether we have Polly with us or not. I think it says a lot about a place (and the owners!) if they welcome dogs and have facilities for them too. The site has a sectioned off and secure dog walkway on the edge of the grass pitches. Dogs are allowed off lead too. And on the site entrance there is also a wash station if you need to clean those muddy paws.

Raised Bonfires are allowed

Is there anything better than whiling away the hours with a glass of something special whilst stoking the fire and toasting marshmallows? Nup, thought not. I have a compactible mesh bonfire set that we keep in the van that is perfect for trips just like this. Meadow Falls also supplies fire packs for all your responsible fire starting needs. You can even buy S’mores packs ready to toast up!

Views of Ingleborough

As someone who has walked the Yorkshire Three Peaks twice, it was somewhat of a relief to wake up to views of the mountain knowing I wasn’t going to be climbing / rolling down it. It’s a stunning backdrop to wake up to with a brew in hand. An ideal spot to camp at if you’re taking on the challenge too.

Facilities

The site facilities (toilets, shower and communal outdoor sheltered kitchen) were regularly cleaned and the site when we stayed was relaxed and peaceful. That’s the main things I look for really. I loved that the kids area didn’t stand out like a sore thumb and encouraged them to play amongst the nature. The campsite office also has a tuck shop and has everything you could need, including ice creams and coffee to make your stay more comfortable. You can also order Breakfast and BBQ Packs from a local award winning farm shop if you fancy an extra treat for your camping trip in the Dales.

This is such a nice site. I have stayed their twice in a tent . Both times we did the ingleton falls waterfall walk and one time our friends kids went swimming in the outdoor pool in the village.
