The natural and digital world are both a big part of my everyday. So, in praise of the internet, because it ain’t all bad, here’s some more of my web wanderings including tips, resources and light-bulb moments that I’ve discovered online lately.

On social | Did you roll your eyes when Instagram rolled out yet another new feature? I know I did. I totally get it, it can feel daunting, especially if you use social media for your business, to suddenly must figure out another platform, even if it’s still built within Instagram). I’m talking about Reels of course.

Firstly, just because it exists it doesn’t mean you have to use it (I’m still figuring out how best, if at all, I should use it for work. But I have enjoyed playing with Reels on my personal/blog Instagram so I can test some ideas out. If you’re needing guidance look to Digital Creators, Alice and Vix, who have put together an Instagram account called 30 Day Reels Thing, to help you navigate Reels with free daily prompts and tips.

Online Recipes: Oh me, oh my. It’s hard choosing only one recently saved recipe, but the Caramelized Shallot Pasta Recipe created by Alison Roman had to be the one.  THE ONE. If you love pasta, anchovies and restorative food, you must make this!

YouTube | For all the outdoorsy folk out there, do yourself a favour and watch the wonderful Athena Mellor’s channel. Her videos have been a much-need tonic of late, packed with UK (and abroad, pre-Covid) hikes, camping, nature, lifestyle and recipes. Watching her channel has made me even more excited about our campervan travels in the UK.

Useful Apps | Is your phone disorganised? Full of notes and saved screenshots? I know mine is.  I discovered Collect app last week, from the folks behind We Transfer, and it is ruddy splendid. You can save, organise and share ideas from ALL your apps on your phone whether it’s a link, image, video, or song, and it’s free! I use my phone for work and play and it’s been a gamechanger, freeing up headspace that I really need right now. Give it a go.

A ‘Good’ Article| Pathways is one of the UK’s estimated 250 care farms, which host vulnerable people and engage them in farming or horticulture activities as a form of therapy. They target groups such as dementia patients, young people at risk of school exclusion and people with learning difficulties, using farming as a way to boost wellbeing, self-esteem and a sense of community. See you next time!
