10 Simple Things #4

1| I am so happy that autumn is finally here. Just like others thrive in summer, I feel more alive in autumn. But then I love winter too, so perhaps I’m a tad strange. Happy autumn equinox everyone!

2| Let’s just say that life has been a tad challenging lately. I’ve been struggling to cope with the reality and emotions that come with my dad having Alzheimer’s. It’s tough. I know I’m not dealing with things well when I reply to communications in emojis only. This old brain of mine is finding it hard to muster the words lately.

I’ve had a few health problems myself that have been a tad overwhelming, but only because I’m not used to hospital visits and tests. Adulting can be hard sometimes, eh? But the last few weeks have given me an enormous amount of perspective in terms of what actually matters, and I take solace in that reminder. Honestly chums, get living the life you want to live, it’s happening right NOW.

3|Hello my new jumpsuit of dreams (it’s important to follow serious chat with clothing distractions). Asquith, design eco friendly bamboo and organic cotton activewear to live in, and off the yoga mat. They sent me their softest of soft bamboo jersey jumpsuit in black to style, and it’s the bee’s knees.

Not only is it equipped for your work out session, it’s ideal for days when working from home or travelling, when only comfy clothes will do. It’s so comfy, I’m going to invest in a pair of bamboo yoga leggings too The deep v-neck and ruched waistline style make it easy to dress up too, perfick for after-work drinks and weekend pottering.

I’m wearing the jumpsuit here dressed down with my trusty Converse and chunky cardigan to take the autumnal chill away. I’ve accessorised with my gold toned tote bag, Adexe watch and chicest of chic necklace from The Diamond Store to make my weekend pottering feel a bit more special. It will look great jazzed-up with some heels and a tailored jacket too. Pretty versatile, huh? P.S The all important question answered; yes, it’s easy to whip off when you need the loo!

Here’s a note from the brand:

Asquith designs yoga clothes made from eco-friendly organic cotton and bamboo fabrics. These are better for the environment and better for you as they’re naturally sweat wicking, breathable and feel super soft against the skin. All Asquith’s yoga tops and yoga pants are functional and flattering, so you can wear them on and off the mat.

4| Finding Conkers on my morning dog walk, and making a promise to myself that I will make more time for fun, and have a boozy Conkers match with Ste this weekend. P.S Apparently they are a good spider deterrent too.

5| Wedding celebrations in Bristol with family. It was so nice to let my hair down at the weekend and catch up with family at the gorgeous Bristol Harbour Hotel. We celebrated with the lovely couple, drank lots of Champagne, danced to lots of Irish music, and sank into our beds exhausted. A weekend well spent I’d say.

6| Happy distractions, namely plants. I can’t stop buying them. I saved a Mother-in-Law’s Tongue from one of the M6 services the other day. It just looked so sad under the fluorescent lighting. It is now home.

7| These donkeys that we made friends with on a recent walk.

8|Getting prepared for Christmas. I don’t care if it’s too early to talk about this. My experience last year made me realise how a little organisation beforehand can make the silly season more enjoyable. It was all a bit too stressful last Xmas to be honest, and as someone who loves the season, it meant I couldn’t stop to properly enjoy it.

So this year I’m doing things differently. I even managed to organise a restorative NYE break before they were all booked up. My future self will be thankful for some post Christmas time-out.

9|Strong Yorkshire tea. I’m on a coffee ban for a while, until my health/sleep improves, so naturally my tea intake has increased somewhat. Oops. Anyway, I forgot how comforting a cup of tea can be when it’s not rushed. What’s your favourite blend of tea?

10|Can you remember 5 Positives Things to do this Week? Well, I’ve been in need of a little focus and distraction lately (see point 2), and this blog series used to help with that. So I’m bringing it back, but on my Instagram Stories instead, where I figure everyone is nowadays. Check in from next Monday!
