Lately: Reflecting

UK fashion and lifestyle blogger

If a magazine was made up of the months of the year, September would be the front page of my life. Two years ago in September we became home owners. In the same month, a year later, we welcomed a dog named Polly into our lives followed closely by starting a new hobby, Roller Derby. September is a month of change, it seems. It’s also when I start a new diary, coo over A/W clothing collections and begin thinking about Christmas. Oh, and a new season of Poldark begins too. There’s always that.

It’s no surprise I’m feeling a tad reflective when I look at celebrating Polly’s first anniversary with us (read this post here on all of my puppy fears a year ago!). Besides wondering where the hell the time goes, it’s a strange feeling seeing how far she’s come, and how in return she’s changed our lives.

Then there’s Roller Derby. Firstly, I stuck with it. Now there’s a shocker. I tend to go through phases with any physical activity but walking the dog and skating (and hitting my team mates) has stuck. I’ve yet to pass my minimum skills but I’m close, and the last few weeks I’ve felt more confident than ever. Something has switched in my brain, and I’m thinking less of the pressure to pass and more about enjoying the session. They’ve even had me practicing on every drill with the team, and I’ve loved every minute (and drank ALL the water). I wonder where I’ll be this time next year?

There’s no life changing events planned for this September (no bad things, OK Life?!) but I am looking forward to a week off next week, followed by End of the Road Festival. I’m trying to cram in as much work as possible (freelancers, I’m sure you understand) so I can enjoy Bank Holiday weekend and the rest of the week too with no distractions. I’m planning on seeing my family, walking, reading, cooking, shopping, road tripping to Dorset and enjoying festival fun with my favourite people. So please excuse today’s rambling blog post, my brain is beginning to crash!

Besides working my ass off, I can’t think of anything else to report other than the usual so I’ll check back next week with holiday news. In the meantime, follow me on Instagram (I’m on Instagram Stories too now) and give me a holla if I’m not following you.

What have you been up to lately? Any Bank Holiday plans?

I love looking back over a year and seeing how things have changed and wandering what more there is to come in the next one! One of these days I’m going to write a letter to myself and come back to it a year later.. ooh maybe I’ll make it a blog post!

I passed Hebden Bridge on the train the other day – I will have to come over for more lunch and shopping soon. I want to meet Polly!!
