Postcards from Australia #2

Hello, hello! How are we all? I was planning to share a few more blog posts while out in Australia but my phone broke so I was forced to have a much-needed digital detox instead. I’m sure you understand. Plus I was busy holidaying n’all. Must. Remember. To. Switch. Off.

I’ve only been away two weeks but it feels like months. We had the best time and have come home super relaxed and ready to step into spring. In fact, I can’t remember a holiday I’ve enjoyed as much.
Here’s a peek at some of my favourite memories from our holiday in Western Australia. I’ll share more over the coming weeks… I took a silly amount of photos!DSC_0131Wineries. This region of Australia reminds me so much of Italy so I couldn’t help but fall in love with the landscape and all its vineyards. We visited a few including my favourites Swings and Roundabouts and House of Cards…they know how to make a good sparkling wine. Oof.DSC_0227Fun on the beach. Is there anything better?DSC_0352Drinks in bars in Dunsborough. It’s pretty pricey to have a night out in Australia and to be honest we were just so tired by the time the evening came that we only went out a few times. I guess I just prefer to drink bubbles in the sunshine instead…or I’m getting old. Ahem.

When we did go out though I really enjoyed it (everyone says ‘Awesome’ so I fit right in), drank all the bubbles and snacked on fries with aioli sauce. We even bumped into a barman from Littleborough, only 30 mins from Hebden Bridge!DSC_0323Catching the sun. OK. I know I still look whiter than white in this picture but my freckles came out and that made me happy. I think my body just needed a big dose of vitamin D as my body still feels super relaxed after coming home. Let’s see what happens after a week of normality!DSC_0288Hanging out with Harry. We missed Polly so much but having Harry around (my mum-in-law’s pooch) made everything better.DSC_0351Taking photographs. I used to get a tad embarrassed getting my DSLR out in public, but nowadays it goes pretty much everywhere with me. Photographs are the only souvenirs you need to bring home from a holiday.DSC_0283Dolphin spotting. On a fishing trip we saw flying fish, dolphins and caught salmon too. No sharks this time, although shark patrol helicopters were hovering over us at times.DSC_0124Italian cookery day. The OH’s brother turned 30 whilst out there and we celebrated the day learning Italian recipes (we made fresh pasta!) then eating them. Mmm. I’ll share more on this soon as I’d like to try out the recipes at home again.DSC_0174Beach party. Birthday celebrations in Australia call for a beach party so that’s what we did! Candlelight, sunset, beer and birthday cake = AWESOME.DSC_0223Beer and wine tasting. In this photo I pretend to be a giant.DSC_0099So many delicious beers! I’m ready for UK beer garden fun this summer now.DSC_0225Wearing Salt Water Sandals. Hands down the best summer footwear I’ve ever owned. I didn’t need to wear anything else as they suited most outfits and most importantly they’re the comfiest sandals ever! And yes, they are 100% waterproof.DSC_0277Collecting seashells (then putting them back!). It’s therapeutic.DSC_0186Admiring the landscape and its small details.DSC_0097Outdoor cinema at Cape Mentelle. One of my favourite evenings was spent watching the latest Coen Brothers film, Hail Caeser!, outside under the stars on beanbags. BEANBAGS!DSC_0093Set in a winery, with perfectly packaged popcorn, wine within reach and a beanbag to curl into; it was a pretty magical night and I’ll never forget it.DSC_0049Pelican spotting at Augusta. Another day and more wildlife within touching distance. I could have watched the pelicans come and go all day.DSC_0296Polly was always in the back of my mind so even though I wanted the holiday to last for ever, I couldn’t wait to see her silly face again.

More snaps soon!
