Lately: A New Look, Birthday and Inspiration

yorkshire bloggers

Hello. Bonjour. Co-ee. How are we all? As I’m writing this, it’s pouring down outside. But it’s OK as I have a mug of Ovaltine and Polly curled up next to me. Hopefully when the post goes live the sun will be shining, or at least I can walk Polly without getting rained on.

So what’s been floating my boat lately? I decided to have a blog spring clean at the weekend. I’ve still got some weekend tinkering to do but overall I like the new theme and I hope you do too. It should be much more mobile responsive and a new look, much like a new hair do, always helps with motivation. Change is good.

Walking. I never used to check the weather unless snow or a heat wave was forecast. Then we got Polly and almost all her walks lately have turned into a mud bath. Damn the rain and our poor carpet.

Besides the mud, I don’t think I’ve ever felt as healthy (only took me 36 years). Walking is the best medicine, physically and mentally. Walking a dog is even better. If you’re feeling a bit meh folks, just walk.

Gifts. Isn’t she pretty? Any advice on looking after orchids would be much appreciated. I want to try to keep her alive for as long as possible so she can keep me company in the office once it’s been decorated.

More plants! I love receiving plants as gifts. It’s the perfect present as you can never have enough. I need to brush up on my gardening though as I thought this was thyme at first sight, instead of oregano. Ahem.

All my favourite memories from the past couple of years in one picture c/o Cheerz. I love it! I’ll share more in another post soon as I think it’s going to be moved to the hallway as part of a gallery wall.

Birthday. I planned to go to Haworth with my friend Julia, to see the Charlotte Great and Small exhibition at Bronte Parsonage, and do a spot of birthday shopping (and eat cake). The snow had other plans though and we ended up in Saltaire, at the fantastic Salts Mill. It’s simply the best place for inspiration, and they have an awesome book shop too. Anyone read Yuki Chan in Bronte Country?

I finally got to see David Hockney’s The Arrival of Spring exhibition too. Oh, the colour!

A mighty fine sight. I just need a quiet afternoon to read them all.

Polly’s collection of toys is getting bigger and bigger. She’s getting spayed this week so no doubt I’ll pick up another one as a treat. Wah. I’m so nervous. Wish her luck!

P.S I love writing happy lists, it feels like as I write they erase any bad stuff going on. Be gone toothache, nosey neighbours and family worries I can’t control.

What have you been up to lately?
