Lately: Cuppa and Chat

uk lifestyle blog

Hello Thursday readers, how was your day? Of course if you’re reading this on any other day of the week then you are quite welcome too. I thought I’d have a sit down this evening with my trusty brew by my side and empty my brain for a bit of a blog catchup.

You know when your brain just can’t take anymore information and doing even the smallest of things, like a grocery shop, feels like a BIG DEAL? Yeah that. I’m not one to mope for long so I took the bull by the horns and booked some time off from my part-time job a week or so ago; mainly so I could catch up on all of life’s admin, complete freelance work and create my brand new website.

Regarding the website, I promise I will share this once I’ve dotted all the i’s and crossed the t’s, but let’s just say my new adventure is a natural progression from my old career and my current one – I’m super excited about it and loving the response from my friends and family. I know it’s annoying when people shout about their news without spilling the beans but I’ve always been a ‘sharer/giddy kipper’ that just can’t help herself!

Over the bank holiday weekend, I visited my university friends in Cambridgeshire and had the best time – we always do. After 15 years of knowing these girls I’m so happy we still see each other regularly. Three girls I can actually introduce to you on t’internet are Amy of Clarence and Alabama fame, ESOL teacher and foodie Isla and Louise, who launched her lifestyle blog, Letty Mack, last weekend! We all studied creative subjects at university including writing, theatre and dance so it’s always inspiring meeting up with them all for pure no-nonsense chat. Is there anything better?

Hmm, what else? I chatted bangs and the future (good name for a band?) with my friend over lunch and caught up with the local charity shops in Hebden Bridge. I met up with my Blogtacular buddy at our regular Leeds haunt, The Tiled Hall Cafe, for more chat and lots of venting. Ooh and I picked up a couple of books which I’ve not started yet – Longbourn and The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly. Have you read either?

As always, the holiday, even if it was working from home, passed by in a flash. But I have come out of it feeling inspired, creative and motivated which is perfect timing for my trip to London this weekend for the blogging event, Blogtacular. Eep!

I’m ridiculously excited as well as a little scared to meet all of these awesome people who inspire me and my blog each and every day. I’ll be the northern lass eating complimentary biscuits plucking up the courage to talk to my favourite bloggers. If you are going by the way, please come over and say hello – I’m a tad shy! If you’re not coming to the event but are a little nosy like me, you can follow my Instagram feed throughout the weekend…I have a feeling I’m going to be snap happy.

Best get packing!

Your new website plans sound great. I’m just the same – can never help but share news when I’m excited even if I have to keep the details a secret. I think it’s a good thing, for one it makes you crack on because you’ve built an expectation!

Blogtacular looked amazing, I’ve been scrolling through the Instagram hashtag. I really need to get myself to a blogging conference one of these days…

It was brilliant Elizabeth. I was very nervous at first but it ended up being the best weekend I’ve had in a long time. Ridiculously inspiring for my blog, life and new business!
