A Happy Home: Spring Home Wish List
Thirty four years on this planet and it’s still a pleasant surprise, after a long Winter, to stare out of the window at 7pm into the light. Who cares about losing an hour when you gain extra daylight for the evenings? Perfect for a night owl like me.
With Spring in mind, I’ve been perusing the internet for uplifting home accessories and furniture; beautiful and practical storage from Orla Kiely and Southwood Stores, French style furniture from Out There Interiors and patterned accessories from H&M and A Wooden Tree. Joy!

Whilst coveting new delights for our home, it’s also important to appreciate what I already love about our pad. So I thought I’d curate a list of all the things in our home that make me smile, Design Sponge style.
- The light that streams in from our South-facing position.
- The art – film posters, original paintings by friends and family and inspiring illustrations I’ve collected throughout the years.
- The fact that it is always a bit messy or ‘lived in’ as I like to say. Life isn’t meant to be perfect and I think what makes a happy home is the people who live in it.
- The radio is always on…this make me happy.
- There are always flowers in our home. Daffodils and tulips are cheering our windowsills right now.
- Our polka dot black and white rug from Ikea.
- The coffee machine and the sound the milk steamer makes. Whoooooooosh!
- Our perfect view looking out over the valley.
What do you love about your home? Do you like my Spring home picks?

I LOVE your picks. What do I love about my home?
– the light throughout from being so high up
– the view of the Water of Leith if you tilt your head a bit and look to the side out the windows!
– our bookcases and how full of books they are
– our wee kitchen and our mugs all out on the shelves to be seen and used!
– our Society cushions (would not have found without you Lisa!)
– that M lives here with me
– our bed which is small but so very comfy
