Best British Designer-Makers: Clare Caulfield
Today, I’m pleased to feature Clare Caulfield, the Yorkshire based artist and printmaker who (pinches herself with excitement) will be launching a new solo exhibition at Heart Gallery in Hebden Bridge tomorrow evening.
I’ve long been a fan of her vibrant illustrative paintings of cities including Paris, New York, Rome, Venice, Prague, Sydney and London. So let’s just say I’m rather enthusiastic to see her new collection of work inspired by the Hills, Mills and Houses of Hebden Bridge, Haworth and Saltaire; three Yorkshire towns that hold a special place in my heart.
Claire’s unique technique of combining drawing, painting, collage and printmaking help capture the personality of a city/town, from its people and buildings to the colours and character. Here’s a taste of Hebden Bridge, my home town, through Clare Caulfield’s eyes…
The Hills, Mills and Houses exhibition launches at Heart Gallery tomorrow evening (call or pop in for an invite) and runs until July 13th.
