At Home: Free weekend fun

I get excited over the small things. So if I have a few days off and don’t have any pennies to my name I turn to my house and all the stuff I can get up to. Ooo-er missus! Now they’re not the most innovative or interesting of things to do but they are fun and two out of the three are super productive so you can tick them off that list.

Living in the digital age it’s been a while since I’ve printed off my photographs, but I do have a pile that needs sorting into albums and a bunch of thrifted frames that need their partner in crime – I hate looking at empty frames! It’s one of those jobs that is put off in this house but a satisfying and fun thing to do when you have a spare afternoon.

Top Tip – Any left over/unwanted photos left? Try some craftiness and make this Photo Dot Journal DIY courtesy of A Beautiful Mess.

I have many CD’s. MANY. Then I met my OH who also had many CD’s. Many + many = A LOT.  Music is a big part of our lives and as much as I love the old formats I love my iPod Touch. However, it only contains new music that I’ve downloaded and not much of the music I have on hard copy – oh the humanity! Cue a free afternoon transferring those bad boys onto my shiny portable music device. Or maybe make a night of it with a glass or three of vino? It’s fun, you’ll end up singing like a loon and you can welcome Monday with a jam-packed device full of your favourite tunes. Ah, satisfying.

Top Tip –  Living with your partner/hubby/lover and have duplicate copies of the same CD? Give the gift of music to a grateful friend or charity shop.

Ah box set days. How I adore thee. Presuming you have food in the house (if not, see my top tip), this is another favourite of my free things to do at the weekend. Lord of the Rings, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game of Thrones are all up there in creating the best box set days.

Top Tip – invite a few a friends over (and your duvet) and you can be sociable too. Plus, they might bring nibbles in return for your general aceness.

So, now you know what I get up to when I’m penny pinching? How about you?

I’m off work for a week, and it is the quite poor bit of the month. I am actually slightly delighted, because it is guilt free time to read copiously, watch period dramas and rom-coms, sew and crochet, and potter on the internet. Husband and I are doing something on Saturday, but otherwise this is lovely time all for myself.

I think we spend out time in very similar ways, other Lisa 🙂 x
