All the small things.
I started the weekend feeling pretty flat. Working all weekend, therefore missing the annual University get-together, and recovering from a poorly tummy – oh woe is me!
So the early mornings, lunch breaks and evenings were spent doing all the small things that keep us going.
Firstly, I bought some flowers. I try to pick up flowers every 10 days or so. I spend roughly £2-£4 depending on budget but never go more than that. I find popping flowers in jam jars (or sweetie jars) and dotting them around the house goes a lot further, plus you get to see a touch of prettiness in each room.
I love this idea of bunching jars together with ribbon. A great centrepiece for wining and dining…ooh lala!
Reading blogs, books and magazines to keep me inspired. I like to read blogs in the mornings, magazines in the afternoon (on my tea break) and books in the evening. However I must confess, by the time I pick up a book of late I’m already asleep. Must do better.
Boyfriend hugs, nephew hugs (my new favourite hug) and friend hugs. I like them a lot. What is so satisfying in a hug? You can feel so low but a hug can lift you to another level. Ah hugs.
When it’s cold and rainy in the evening there’s nothing better than snuggling up to a cheesy 80s American film with a tub of ice cream. Carte D’or Caramel Cinnamon Waffle is my new favourite…nom! Serious cinnamon goodness.
Researching new recipes! Tasty Thai chicken noodle soup, Chicken, pea and parmesan pasta and sumptuous peanut butter cups. I love finding new recipes, especially simple ones!
So, lots of nice things kept me going and today is my day off, hurrah! I shall spend it blogging, researching, drinking tea, eating soup (still have poorly tummy!), crafting and watching Wuthering Heights. Oh dear, I’m very predictable!
Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! I love that jam jar picture. I too put mine in jam jars but also old fashioned milk bottles which you can pick up from vintage fairs for around £2.
Great post.

I love this. Positivity and appreciating the small things are very important! 🙂

Love the small things and the jam jar flowers. I am struggling to stay awake to read at the moment too but am fairly sure all that is required is some good rest – hope the same is true for you and that you get it.

That jam-jar pic is lovely, and it’s a great tip to split the flowers! I like lists of simple pleasures like these, and I’m certainly prone to the odd very indulgent recipe-browse!

I try to find new recipes each week otherwise we get stuck in a rut! I keep stumbling on chocolate based ones though…hmm??
