So it begins…!

A lot of things have inspired me to write a blog, all of which I shall talk about very soon. However, what inspired me to name my blog ‘Mathilde ♥ Manech’ was the book and film A Very Long Engagement (by Sebastien Japrisot and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet).

The story is about a young woman’s (Mathilde) relentless search for her fiancé (Manech), who has disappeared from the trenches of the Somme during World War One.

If you haven’t read the book or seen the film, please do, you won’t be disappointed. The director, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, is also the clever chap who directed Amelie (thought that might excite you!). Also it stars the ever so chic, Audrey Tautou.

Oh, one more thing. I named my beautiful dutch bike after her too : )
