    Why I Love The Outdoors

As someone who never used to be outdoorsy, it is surreal to me that I’m now the type of person who would prefer to be  exploring the countryside than anywhere else. I’m very much a homebody too, and love pottering indoors, baking, reading and watching movies. But all of this I appreciate more having spent a chunk of my time in nature. Of course, this all started when Polly, our Golden Retriever came into our life.

Good Vibes Only: Yorkshire Three Peaks

I’m stopping by briefly today to say a big thank you to those who supported and sponsored us for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. We did it! It was one of the best (and worst) experiences of my life, and I’m so happy that we beat our target of raising £500 for Alzheimer’s Society; cash and online donations are still coming in! If you’d like to donate you still can here. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’ll chat more…

    A Week in Walks #6

Hullo chums! How are we all today? Raring for the weekend? I’m not going to lie, I’m feeling very anxious whilst writing this blog post. My stomach is doing somersaults and my mind is whirling with panic. We’re doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this weekend in support of Alzheimer’s Society and I’m suddenly feeling all the nerves. Will my legs carry me for 26 miles in 12 hours? Will my dodgy knee play ball? Will I make it to…

    A Week in Walks #5

Hello there! We decided to go on an impromptu day trip to Lytham St Annes with family at the Bank Holiday weekend for a touch of sea air and to introduce Polly to the seaside, now that she is a fully fledged member of the Aquaphile club. Now I know I’m supposed to document a week of walks in this post (not that you care I’m sure) but for a change I though it would be nice to share a spot of sea,…

    A Week in Walks #4

It feels so nice to sit down and catch up on the blog after a very busy working week/month. I have a brew next to me and everything! I’ve realised lately that walking is actually a big part of my life, and always has been, having never driven a car. Walking with Polly is the favourite part of my day, and documenting it throughout photos and capturing the seasons is something I’m really enjoying. I mean, look at those Calder…

    A Week in Walks #3

I’ve been doing a lot of walking over the past week or so whilst I’m still on holiday/staycation. In previous years our days off would have been spent very differently but now they pretty much revolve around our walks with Polly, followed closely by the pub, of course. It might be quieter and less eventful (depending on Polly’s antics) but I wouldn’t change it for anything. It seems I enjoy the slower pace of life, with a healthy dose of…

    A Week in Walks #2

It’s been a great week for walking with Polly in Hebden Bridge. Mainly because of the sunshine and the onset of lighter evenings but more importantly because I don’t have to wash Polly every time we walk in the door. The struggle is real, my friends.  She has this new ‘thing’ where she stands over a puddle, looks at me (no joke) then lays down in it soaking her golden belly full of mud. Little beggar. So the less it…

    A Week in Walks #1

When life feels overwhelming and impossible there are things I like to do to help me find a sense of calm to my day. For example, I demand hugs from the OH and cuddles from the dog. I watch my favourite movies that feel like very old friends. And I walk. I walk away my frazzled feelings in an attempt to remain focused, grounded and also to appreciate the things that sometimes I think we all take for granted. With…

    20 Welly Walking Activities

There’s no glamour in walking the dog on a weekday. Most of the time it rains, or you might be suffering from the latest bug going around and there will always, I guarantee, be mud. My coat pockets are stuffed with poo bags, gravy bones and weird-looking 1-year-old chew toys. I wear old jeans, baggy jumpers and weary walking boots that have seen better days and I’m secretly hoping I won’t see a living soul because I’ve yet to brush…
