Door woes.

Our front door leaves a lot to be desired. It’s made of PVC but looks like wood, has mottled windows in it which are without question, ug-ly. Every time I walk in the house I’m thinking ‘Meh’.

I’ve looked into buying paint suitable for PVC and thought, ‘Our door will soon be pretty!”, then to realise the miserable windows would still be there. To replace with new ones would mean getting someone in. Costly, my friends. Costly.

Would it be cheaper to buy a new door? As a tenant should I even consider this? These are my renting woes. Should I be even bothered?!

So, I’ve been researching pretty doors for inspiration (and to make me feel worse) in hope that one day soon, money & landlord permitting, I shall walk through the door with a ‘Yay!’

Plus, I can begin to get excited about making wreaths for Christmas! The joy!

Those doors are lovely. I think I need to see if I can make a wreath this year. It would be lovely and cheery, particularly if we can cut back the bushes obscuring our front door! (When I say we, I mean M)

Don’t laugh at me, but i kind of want to buy both parts of an old, semi-detached house so that I can paint one door red and one yellow. I will settle for having one or the other though.

    S, you need a wreath!

We can have a wreath as it would be stolen. our doors are big solid tenement ones, and next door’s is red. I am very jealous but we also rent and I can’t bring myself to pay for the paint. Though, if we stay here for another two years, I might give in.

If it’s any consolation our front door looks rubbish too. It has a hastily slapped on layer of grey undercoat that was done during the renovation and is now awaiting completion along with all our front windows that need re-painting too! Think peeling paint and general air of dilapidation. It makes me sigh every time I walk up to it too but Rome wasn’t built in a day as they say.

I love doors too. Have you seen all the pretty ones at Robin Hood’s Bay? I did a blog post on them a while back if you fancy some more door porn http://katgotthecream.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-do-like-to-be-beside-seaside.html
